Significance of Narasimha Jayanti
Vaishakh Shukla Chaturdashi is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanti. According to the belief, Narasimha Dev was the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Narasimha on the day of Narasimha Jayanti. To kill Hiranyakashipu, Lord Vishnu took the form of half-lion and half-man and took Narasimha avatar. This time Narsingh Jayanti is on 14th May i.e. today. According to the Panchang, today a special coincidence of Swati Nakshatra and Saturday is being made. Which is considered very auspicious. The fast and rules of Narasimha Jayanti are considered similar to Ekadashi fast. Devotees eat only once a day before Narasimha Jayanti. Consumption of all types of grains is prohibited during the fasting of Narasimha Jayanti. The fast is broken on the next day.
