Accident on Ranchi-Gumla NH 23: Two youths were returning by bike after seeing fire from Kumharo, one died in a truck collision

On Wednesday night on Ranchi-Gumla main road NH 23, a drunken bike rider returning after seeing the fire from Kumharo near Dumbo hit the truck from behind. One youth died in this while another was seriously injured. The injured were referred to RIMS. Both the youths were not wearing Hamlets. The deceased bike driver youth was identified as Prasad Oraon, 30-year-old son of Junas Oraon of Jura Karanjtoli village of Bharno police station area, while his friend Sohan Oraon, resident of Dumbo Bhagtoli was seriously injured.

He was picked up from the accident site with the help of Bharno police and villagers and taken to Community Health Center Bharno. Where after first aid, he was referred to RIMS Ranchi for better treatment. According to the information, both friends Prasad Oraon and Sohan Oraon were returning from the same bike after seeing the fire from Kumharo.

Ibai, being speeding and intoxicated, rammed into the truck from behind while trying to overtake a freight truck moving ahead near Dumbo NH 23. Prasad Oraon died on the spot and Sohan Oraon was injured. The truck driver managed to escape with the truck. The family members identified him as Prasad Oraon after seeing the dead body at the police station in the morning.

Police station in-charge Aditya Kumar Chaudhary told that Prasad was of criminal nature. In 2011, he had come out of jail in the case of shooting and killing a person and used to do grandparenting. The mobile was snatched from Surendra Oraon of Domba Bajhiya Toli at a wedding ceremony in March of 2021. A case has been registered in Bharno police station. Prasad Oraon was on the run. Bharno police handed over the body to the family members after conducting post-mortem on Thursday.
