Lucknow:

Special Judge Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi of ATS court convicted Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi on Saturday in the case of attack on PAC jawans in Gorakhnath temple. The court has fixed January 30 as the date for hearing the quantum of sentence.

In this regard, Vinay Kumar Mishra lodged an FIR on April 4, 2022 at Gorakhnath police station. According to the case registered, Abbasi, an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) graduate, had tried to forcefully enter the Gorakhnath temple complex on April 3 and attacked the security personnel with a sharp weapon.

Two constables of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) were injured in the attack. Abbasi was overpowered by other security personnel and was later arrested. The matter was investigated by the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
