New Delhi, IANS. China’s smartphone maker OPPO has made a big achievement. The company on Thursday successfully made the first 5G VoNR (Voice/Video on New Radio) call from Key-Site Solution’s 5G lab in Hyderabad. This 5G call has been made from the company’s latest Reno 6 series device. An end-to-end standalone network has been used for calls.

Tasleem Arif, R&D Head, Oppo India has said that our team is working on 5G technology, so that Indian users can get a better 5G technology experience.

What is VoNR

VoNR is a voice over 5G new radio call, which uses the SA architecture of the 5G network. VoNR offers better sound and video as compared to the earlier call service. The SA architecture (SA network) is one of the primary architectures of future 5G networks. Operators around the world are currently testing 5G technology on SA networks.

Airtel also did a trial of 5G technology

Let us tell you that apart from Oppo India, telecom company Airtel along with Nokia has trialed 5G technology on the 700 MHz band. This trial has been done on the outskirts of Kolkata, which is the first 5G trial in eastern India. Both companies have achieved high broadband network coverage between two 3GPP 5G sites, with a distance of 40Km. Airtel has used Nokia’s AirScale radio and a stand-alone core for the 5G trial.
