Dhaka, Pretr. Bangladesh on Thursday began sending hundreds of Rohingya refugees to an island in the Bay of Bengal. Human rights organizations have expressed concern about the situation on the island, which is facing the threat of submersion. Millions of people from the Rohingya Muslim community fled after violence and persecution began in neighboring Myanmar in August 2017. Out of these, 11 lakh Rohingya community citizens took refuge in Bangladesh.

Mohammad Shamsud Douza, a senior official overseeing the deportation of Rohingya to the island, said that a Navy ship will take 379 refugees from Chattogram city to Bhashan Char Island. . The island is located on the southeast coast of the country. They are leaving voluntarily. A total of 1500 Rohingyas will be sent to the island in a phased manner over the next few weeks. Earlier, about 19000 refugees have been sent to Cox’s Bazar Island. He further said that the authority will look after the arrangements for food and medicines for these refugees. The government started sending Rohingya refugees 11 months ago.
