Following in the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Karnataka government has decided to remove all illegal microphones/loudspeakers from across the state. Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra told reporters on Monday that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a meeting with senior officials in Bengaluru.

The meeting came in the wake of the loudspeaker controversy erupting in Karnataka. Several activists of Shri Ram Sena were detained when Hanuman Chalisa was played on loudspeakers to counter the azaan.

Speaking to the media, HM Araga Gyanendra said, “Related to Azaan, CM Bommai held a meeting with senior officials in Bengaluru and also gave instructions. A time limit of 15 days has been set to remove all illegal microphones. As per the judgment of the Supreme Court, a notice was already issued. They have to abide by that decision. If they don’t follow it, then legal action will be taken against them. I don’t know if they (Shri Ram Sena) What are you doing, I have just told you what the government is doing.”
