New Delhi:
Airline companies will have to refund 75 percent of the ticket price to the affected passenger for ‘downgrading’ domestic flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given this order. For downgraded international flights, 30 per cent to 75 per cent of the ticket price (including taxes) will be reimbursed depending on the distance traveled by the aircraft.
A senior DGCA official said on Wednesday that the new rules will come into effect from February 15. DGCA was receiving such complaints from air passengers that airlines change the class of tickets booked by them.
The DGCA had proposed in December last year that airlines should refund the full cost of such tickets including taxes and travel free of cost in the next available class to the affected passenger.
However, these proposals have been modified according to international norms, the official said.
