Punjab’s postmatric scholarship scam has again started increasing the troubles of the newly formed Charanjit Channi government. Akali Dal has targeted CM Charanjit Channi and minister Rajkumar Verka. Akali MLA Pawan Tinu said that former minister Sadhu Singh, close to the Chief Minister and Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, is saving Dharamsot. Action has been taken only against the officers in the scam. The kingpin of this matter is Dharamsot. On whose behest there was a scam of about 64 crores. Now the Channi government has made a mistake by chargesheeting only 5 officers.
Tinu, MLA from Adampur in Jalandhar, said that the then Additional Chief Secretary Kripa Shankar Saroj had suspended Deputy Director Parminder Singh Gill on 20 December 2019. Parminder was special to the then minister Dharamsot. Due to which Dharamsot rejected the order of his execution. Then after 4 days, Parminder was again put on the same seat. If now Minister Verka has chargesheeted him, then it is clear that Saroj’s report was correct at that time.
First Captain saved Dharamsot, also raised questions on Phagwara MLA
Dharamsot was first saved by Captain Amarinder Singh. Amarinder was the CM then. Clean chit was given to Dharamsot in 3 days. Now it seems that CM Channi is working under pressure. They fear that if action is taken against the former minister, Captain and Dharamsot will snatch his chair. If it is not so, then take action against the former minister also. He also questioned the role of Balwinder Dhaliwal, the then Director of Social Welfare Department and now Congress MLA from Phagwara in this case.
Scam: Gave more money to those who were to be recovered, after 14 months 5 officers chargesheet
The scam of postmatric scholarship was exposed 14 months back in Punjab. In which a mistake of about 64 crores was exposed. Investigation revealed that private colleges from which 8 crores of scholarship were to be recovered were given an additional Rs 16.91 crores. Apart from this, the record of allocation of Rs 39 crore was not found. In this case, there were demonstrations demanding the sacking of Dharamsot from the post of minister, but the Captain government did not take action. Now when CM changed, Minister Verka chargesheeted Deputy Director Parminder Gill, DCFA Charanjit Singh, SO Mukesh Bhatia, Superintendent Rajinder Chopra and Senior Assistant Rakesh Arora.
