Hubballi, Karnataka: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday asked the youth to contribute to nation building and ensure that India is number one in every field when the country celebrates the centenary year of its independence in 2047.
Shah also called upon the youth to take a pledge to progress in their personal lives and contribute to nation building in one field or the other in this 75th year of Independence.
The Home Minister said, “When we celebrate the centenary year of independence in 2047, this great country of ours should be on top in every field. To build such a nation, you youth must come together on the appeal of Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi. You should contribute in building a great India.”
Addressing the platinum jubilee celebrations of B V Bhoomraddi College, Shah referred to the progress made by the country in various fields and the strong foundation laid by the government for development in many areas. He also inaugurated an indoor stadium in the campus.
The event was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, an alumnus of the college, as well as Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yeddyurappa, several ministers and legislators.
Shah advised the students and youth to read about the freedom struggle and the people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. He said, “Not everyone is lucky enough to lay down their lives for the country like our soldiers. We cannot sacrifice our lives for the country, but we can live our lives for this country.”
The home minister said, “One should try to achieve heights in one’s profession or field of choice, but at the same time our aim should be that India becomes the top in the whole world.”
Shah said that in eight years, India’s economy has become the fifth largest from the 11th largest economy. He said that it is being predicted that by 2027 India will become the third largest economy in the world.
The home minister said, “(Prime Minister) Modi, keeping this in mind, has a dream for the youth of India that India should become a five trillion dollar economy. If this happens, technical university students like you will have a lot of opportunities.” He also spoke about India’s progress in the start-up sector.
