Indian Army Day 2022: General Naravane said that we stand firmly to counter any attempt to unilaterally change the status quo on our borders.

Army Chief General MM Naravane on Friday, on the eve of Army Day 2022, said that the Indian Army is ready to counter any attempt to unilaterally change the status quo on the country’s borders. and India’s desire for peace stems from “our inherent strength”. The Army Chief also said that gaps in perceptions and disputes are best resolved through established rules based on the principle of equal and mutual security.

There is a situation of military standoff between the armies of India and China in Eastern Ladakh since May 5, 2020 which started after the violent conflict in Pangong Lake area. The two countries have held 14 rounds of military-level talks to resolve the standoff.

In his speech, General Naravane said, “We stand firmly to counter any attempt to unilaterally change the status quo on our borders. Our response to such efforts is quick, coordinated and decisive.

He said that institutional systems and security standards have been strengthened both on and inside the country’s borders to combat terrorism. He said that these systems and security standards have proved effective in reducing the level of violence.

The Army Chief said, “Our actions have demonstrated our ability and strong will to strike at the source of terrorism.” Standing firm for the protection of security and territorial integrity. He said that the active borders of India are guarded with determination.

General Naravane said, “Our brave officers, JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers) and jawans have faced adversity and enemies with courage and perseverance and laid down their lives in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.” He said that the Indian Army maintains a high level of operational readiness to meet current and future challenges.

The armies of India and China have gradually increased their deployment by sending thousands of soldiers and heavy weapons to the area after the violent conflict on May 5, 2020. The two sides completed the process of withdrawal of troops from the northern and southern banks of Pangong Lake and the Gogra area last year as a result of series of military and diplomatic talks. Each side has about 50 to 60 thousand soldiers on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the sensitive area.
