The effect of the Indian Information Technology Rules, 2021 law, which was launched 9 months ago, is now visible on the platform of digital media. The effect of this is that YouTube has recently come up with new terms and conditions for creators. Which YouTube will update from January 5, 2022. A major update has been brought in this for the publisher of content containing current affairs and news. In this, it has become necessary for YouTubers to give their account information to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Therefore, now users will have to give information about their channel to the government by January 5.

These terms and conditions are being brought under Rule 5 of the Indian Information Technology Rules, 2021 (Intermediaries Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct Rules 2021).

The government included 4 types of platforms in the guideline issued on 25 February 2021.

The government has used four words in the guideline. First– Intermediaries. Second– Social Media Intermediaries. third– Significant social media intermediaries. fourth– OTT Platforms. Of these, YouTube comes under the first term Intermediaries.

Intermediary means a service provider that transmits and publishes the content of the users, but does not have any editorial control over that content like news media. These intermediaries can be your internet service providers. Can be social media platforms or can be web services that allow you to upload, post or publish content.
