New Delhi, Online Desk. New Zealand have suffered a humiliating defeat in the three-match ODI series being played against Australia. The Kiwis, who lost their hand matches in the first ODI, failed to achieve the score even after restricting Australia for 195 runs in the second ODI. Batting after losing the toss, the hosts Australia could only make a score of 195 runs for 9 wickets. Chasing a small target, New Zealand were bundled out for 82 runs.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second match of the three-match ODI series being played against Australia on Thursday. The Kiwis managed to restrict Australia to a score of just 195 runs on the basis of sharp bowling from Trent Boult and Matt Henry. Boult took 4 wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs while Henry took 3 wickets giving 33 runs in 10 overs. Steve Smith was the highest run-scorer for Australia. He scored 64 runs in 94 balls.

New Zealand team piled on 82 runs

The visiting team failed to achieve the target of 196 runs from Australia. Half the New Zealand team had returned after getting out on the score of just 45 runs. The Australian bowlers did not give the team a chance to recover after Martin Guptill’s wicket fell on the score of 2 runs. Devon Conway, Tom Latham, captain Kane Williamson, Darrell Mitchell, and Jamie Neesham had lost wickets before the team scored 50 runs. The entire New Zealand team was bundled out for 82 runs in 33 overs.

Adam Zampa took 5 wickets for Australia. He dismissed 5 important New Zealand batsmen for 35 runs in 9 overs. Apart from this, Mitchell Starc and Sean Abbott took 2-2 wickets.
