Awarded: ‘Kayakalp’ with cleanliness, Civil Hospital of Amritsar is second in the state

The Civil Hospital, Amritsar has got the second award for ‘Kayakalp’ given by the government to government hospitals and dispensaries on the basis of cleanliness standards. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in first place and Civil Hospital of Pathankot on third place. The hospital which came first in cleanliness was given Rs.15 and Rs.10 lakh each to the second-third ones.

This honor was given by Deputy CM and Health Minister Om Prakash Soni at the award distribution ceremony held at SG Thakar Singh Art Gallery on Tuesday. In this honor, the Minister handed over a total amount of Rs 2.12 crore to the hospitals and dispensaries who received the award, apart from the certificate.

25% of the reward amount will be distributed among the staff

Health Department Secretary Vikas Garg informed that 75% of the prize money is to be distributed among the concerned hospitals and 25% among the concerned staff. He says that only 8 district hospitals, 12 sub-divisional hospitals and 12 primary health centers of the state deserve this reward. Amit Kumar, MD of the department said that this reward is given according to 350 points based on the maintenance of cleaning equipment of hospitals, surrounding arrangements, behavior of staff towards patients, their presence, availability of health services.

Make hospital environment like home doctor

Soni said that patients are not satisfied with the medicines as much as they are satisfied with the cleanliness of the hospital and the behavior of the doctor-staff. He told the civil surgeons and deputy medical officers of the state that it is the duty of all of us to make the environment around our hospitals like homes. The minister said that it is necessary to maintain the trust of the patients in order to run the hospitals properly.

After 6 years, the hospital reached the second number

According to the survey of the year 2019, Civil Hospital has become the second best hospital in the state. However, in 2015, it stood first and got a reward of Rs 50 lakh. After this, its ranking started slipping and by the year 2018, it had reached the sixth place. In the subsequent survey, this rank has now increased to the second place.
