BharOS Mobile Operating System: On 26 October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on promoting indigenous products and termed them as the basic mantras of progress for self-reliant India. He said, ‘The development of the country depends on economic prosperity and by adopting indigenous things, India’s art, culture and civilization can be kept alive’. Keeping in mind the basic mantra of PM Modi’s Swadeshi Atmanirbhar Bharat, India has achieved success in a new direction. After indigenous initiatives in the defense sector, now the country is moving forward in the field of technology as well.

‘BharOS’ after Android, iOS

The effect of increasing mobile trend in India is that people’s routine starts with mobile and ends with it. To fulfill the interest of mobile, people do not hold back even from buying the costliest mobile. In the mobile operating system system, till now people only know Android or ios, but now in this episode a new style is going to be associated with the name of ‘BharOS’ which is completely indigenous.

Under Make in India, India has also achieved great success in the field of mobile operating system. Today Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav jointly tested the indigenous mobile operating system BharOS.

What is BharOS?

BharOS is a new indigenous mobile operating system. This operating system has been created by J&K Operations, an incubated firm of IIT Madras. BharOS operating system will benefit 100 crore smartphone users in India. This will help reduce the dependency on foreign operating systems in smartphones.

The specialty of ‘BharOS’

Talking about the features of ‘BharOS’, it is not much different from Android. It can be installed on commercial off-the-shelf handsets. In this operating system users will not be forced to choose applications they are unfamiliar with or do not trust. BharOS also does not come with any pre-built applications. With no pre-installed applications, users will be able to download the app of their choice.

How secure is BharOS?

According to the developers- BharOS is better than both Android and iOS in terms of features and security. Like Android, BharOS also offers “Native Over the Air” (NOTA) updates, which means, software updates will automatically be downloaded and installed on the device.

‘BharOS’ became an example of ‘Swadeshi Atmanirbhar Bharat’

An indigenous mobile operating system ‘BharOS’ has been designed under PM Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. On the occasion of testing today, Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘This is a new beginning, now we do not have to stop. Today’s step will fill the big gap in the field of software.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said, “The government is working on policy changes to promote such technologies. Such technologies will help the poor in many ways. , is an important initiative towards fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of self-reliant digital infrastructure”.
