Earlier, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had claimed that Savarkar had written a letter of apology to the British after being imprisoned at the behest of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that all the misconceptions were spread about Savarkar and he was looked down upon. He was given analogies like Fascist and Nazism. His contribution to nation building was overlooked. In doing so, people belonging to one ideology were ahead. It cannot be said to be fair. Nationalist Savarkar was and will remain a great hero.
