Illegal constructions are being done indiscriminately by the people in the villages adjoining Mohali city and multi-storeyed buildings are being built without taking permission from any department. In such a situation, not only the work is being done keeping the rules in mind, but parking and many other problems are also arising in the area.
Although action has been taken on the illegal colonies being built in the villages adjoining Mohali in the last few days towards the Regulatory Wing of GMADA and many illegal constructions have also been demolished there, but the villages which have been fully developed are to be built there. No one cares about illegal constructions. Therefore, illegal constructions are being made there on behalf of the people without permission on their own free will.
Illegal construction going on in the periphery
The regulatory wing of GMADA may pat its back by taking small action, but illegal construction continues indiscriminately. Big buildings are being built in Balongi without permission. One after the other shops are being built on Balongi-Kharad road. Along with this, illegal colonies are being cut in the fields on Kharar Kurali Road. Many such colonies are visible around Rayat and Bahra College. Due to the negligence of the staff of the Regulatory Wing of GMADA, these constructions are being done. Many big hotels have also been built on the Kurali-Kharar road. Taking action on them will now prove to be a difficult task for GMADA.
Major accident averted during illegal construction
Recently, in Balongi, the shuttering plate of a multi-storey building being constructed without permission had fallen on the electric wires. Due to which the power supply of the entire area was affected. Giving information about this, village resident and Congress leader Manjit Singh said that along with the power supply being affected, the water supply in the area was also affected and people had to face both electricity and water problems. He said that the way the iron shuttering plate had fallen on the power lines, it could have caused a major accident. He said that such construction should be banned.
