Washington, Reuters. At least five pro-Donald Trump Republican lawmakers have apologized for backing an effort to reverse the outcome after the US lost the 2020 presidential election. On the fifth day of the hearing before a House of Representatives panel investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol violence, Representative Adam Kinzinger said in his testimony, “President Trump really didn’t care about the investigation.” He wanted the Justice Department to put its stamp on his false allegations.

The panel’s investigation focused on how then-President Donald Trump exerted undue pressure on top judicial officials and law enforcement officials after he lost the election. On January 6, 2021, thousands of Trump supporters stormed Capitol Hill in Washington DC and disrupted a joint session of Congress in the process of ratifying the presidential election results. Dozens of people were injured in the incident, including policemen.

Former US President Donald Trump seems to be implicated in the Capitol Hill riots. In the first hearing of the US Congressional Committee, the attack on Capitol Hill has been called a well-planned conspiracy by Trump supporters. During the hearing, the main architect of this conspiracy has been told to Donald Trump. In order to stay in power, Trump wanted to change the election outcome through rioting.
