Thana City Police has registered a case against the father-son who harassed the married woman for dowry. Investigating officer Jaspal Singh said that he was recorded by Fazilka, a resident of Aanchal, that on November 23, 2016, she was married according to Hindu rituals to Shri Muktsar Sahib, a resident of Gali Pathar Daiwali, Manish Kumar. He spent about 25 lakh rupees on the wedding and gave 11 tolas of gold, jewelery and other items. A few days after the wedding, the in-laws started telling Aanchal that they were not happy with the wedding supplies as their son worked in the office of Gurharsahai’s former MLA. Due to not getting a big car in dowry, there has been humiliation among relatives.
Aanchal told that on November 2, 2019, she was beaten up and thrown out of the house by her in-laws. Aanchal’s parents settled her by giving them cash. On 2 April 2020, the in-laws beat him out of the house. Aanchal complained to the police in this regard. The police summoned her in-laws’ family, who took her along with the assurance of not committing the same mistake again in future. However, he started harassing Aanchal again. The electricity connection of his room was cut off. When Aanchal came back from duty on 2 August 2021, the family members went to the relative’s place. Aanchal went to aunt’s house. Later her in-laws refused to settle her. Aanchal’s father took the panchayat. When her in-laws asked for Stridhan from her family, they started saying that they have ruined Streedhan. On making a complaint in this regard, the police have registered a case against Manish and his father Naresh.
