New Delhi:

Bollywood often makes remakes. Sometimes these remakes are of foreign films and sometimes of country films. Two remakes of Marathi films are releasing this week. The first remake is Salman Khan’s film ‘Antim’ which is a remake of Marathi film Mulshi Patrn. While the second remake is the film ‘Chhori’ released on Amazon Prime Video. It is a remake of the 2016 Marathi film ‘Lapachpi’. ,Daughter‘ has also been directed by Vishal Furia who directed the Marathi film. But the director and producer sat ignoring the gap in the making of the film and the relevance of the film. That’s what bothers me in this film.

The story of ‘Chori’ is of Sakshi and her husband Hemant. Sakshi is pregnant, and Hemant has borrowed money from someone. The borrowers are getting thirsty for his blood. That’s why his driver tells him a place where no one can come. This witness and Hemant reach such a deserted place in the middle of the sugarcane field where there is no one. This place has a horror story of its own. There Sakshi meets the driver’s wife who is a bit mysterious and is about to dictate. Along with this, Sakshi also sees three children and a woman there. In this way, the film tries to scare at some places but things are very natural, and if the story starts to be understood from the beginning, then the film does not do any work of intimidation.

Director Vishal Furia’s lateness can be a good story for a particular area and time, but when we look at it in a broader perspective, the story does not make the same impact. The story is seen and the sequences become familiar. Vishal Furia tried to intimidate and send a message. But he is neither completely intimidated nor able to express his point effectively. Talking about acting, Nusrat Bharucha has done a good job and she also impresses with her acting. Mita Vashisht also did a good job. But due to the very old type of story, poor treatment and lack of horror factor, the film does not make any impact at all.
