Amidst the raging debate on Uniform Civil Code in the country, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid said on Wednesday that the government should give a clear definition of UCC. Salman Khurshid said, “They should tell what is Uniform Civil Code? The UCC is mentioned in the constitution that an attempt will be made to introduce a uniform civil code, but its clear definition and what will be its effect is not clear. Govt Has never said that she will implement Hindu code when it comes to UCC. Good things of any religion should be implemented, be it Islam, Christianity or any other religion. They should tell what is the definition of UCC , only then we can react.
Expressing doubt on the working style of the government, the Congress leader alleged that it has spread discrimination in the society and said that similar behavior is expected in the case of UCC as well.

Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Tuesday termed the Uniform Civil Code as ‘an unconstitutional and anti-minority move’. Along with this, it was described as an attempt by Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Central Government to divert attention from issues like inflation, economy and rising unemployment. AIMPLB has appealed to the Center not to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
