Congress has released its first list of 86 candidates for the assembly elections in Punjab. Congress has played a masterstroke against former CM Captain Amarinder Singh in this. All the close relatives of the captain have been given tickets in the list. At the same time, most of the MLAs or leaders who lost the last election are included in this list.
Now the big question is what will Amarinder do next? This issue is arising because Amarinder kept on claiming that many veterans would join him after the model code of conduct. However, nothing of the sort has happened so far. All eyes were on Congress ticket distribution. Even in that, the Congress has not left a place for Captain.
Tickets given to leaders and close advisors removed from ministerial posts
Congress has given tickets to MLAs Gurpreet Kangar and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who were close to the Captain. After removing the Captain from the chair of CM, Congress had relieved him from his ministerial post. There was also the issue of MLAs Balbir Sidhu and Sunder Sham Arora being close to Capt. Although both of them are also close to senior Congress leader Ambika Soni. The most important is the name of Captain Sandeep Sandhu from Ludhiana’s Dakha. He was one of the closest to Capt. He was also given ticket by Congress.
Rana Gurjit and Sukhpal Khaira were also removed
Congress minister Rana Gurjit is also considered close to the Captain. He has been given a ministerial post and now a ticket. Similarly, Congress gave ticket to flamboyant leader Sukhpal Khaira despite being in jail. Khaira had joined the Congress under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh. However, now he is lodged in Patiala Jail in the case of ED.
Leaders not going with Amarinder
Congress MLAs who left the party are not going with Amarinder. Among them, Fatehjung Bajwa from Qadian, Rana Gurmeet Sodhi from Gurharsahai and Harjot Kamal from Moga left the Congress but joined the BJP. Political discussions are also going on whether it is the strategy of the Captain or the concern about the future of these MLAs.
Captain engaged in mission to oust Congress from power
Captain Amarinder Singh’s only mission in Punjab is to oust the Congress from power. This is the reason why he formed a separate party called Punjab Lok Congress. Formed an electoral alliance with the BJP. However, the captain does not seem to be strengthening his party. No veteran face has been seen joining his party so far.
