New Delhi, Business Desk. Good news is coming for the passengers of Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas and Gatiman Express. IRCTC has decided to introduce cooked food in trains from December to make long distance travel comfortable for passengers. Orders have been issued to all companies and other agencies in this regard.

You will be able to book food with travel

According to the order of IRCTC, it has been tested and now cooked food will be served in trains. The Zonal Railways will decide the cost of the meal. It will be service based. This rate list will be made available to the passenger on the website itself at the time of booking the train ticket so that they can book food along with the journey.

Will be available in these trains including Rajdhani

Initially this service will be started in Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas and Gatiman Express. The food rate list will be fed into the PRS. With this, the cost of food will be known at the time of booking the ticket.

what if you got the ticket

If you have booked tickets for December travel, then IRCTC will inform about the start of packed food service through SMS and email so that they can also book food. Passengers who have booked travel tickets on IRCTC website will also get the option of booking food.

order arrived last week

Only last week, the Railway Board has issued an order to resume serving cooked food to passengers in trains. This service was discontinued due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Railway Board, in a letter, had asked the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to resume the service. The Railway Board also said that ‘ready-to-eat’ food will continue to be served to the passengers. Earlier this month, the Railways announced the restoration of normal train operations disrupted due to the pandemic.
