New Delhi (ANI). The political debate about Mahatma Gandhi and Veer Savarkar does not seem to stop. This debate started when Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said at a book launch about Savarkar that nationalist Savarkar was and will remain a great hero. He also said that Savarkar is said to have filed his pardon petition before the British while in jail. Whereas its reality is something else. Rajnath said that Savarkar had written a letter for apology, it was written at the behest of Mahatma Gandhi. He also said that all kinds of misconceptions were always spread about him.
On this, now the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel has said that where is Mahatma Gandhi and where is Veer Savarkar. He said that if he was in jail then how could he communicate. He also said that he was with the British and sent his pardon from jail. He was the first person who spoke of the two-nation theory after coming out of prison in 1925.
On this issue, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that they are destroying the history of the country. If this continues even further, he will snatch the title of President from Mahatma Gandhi and give it to Savarkar. Savarkar was an accused in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and was included in the investigation of Justice Jeevan Lal Kapoor.
