Prakash Bhardwaj, Shimla. In Himachal Pradesh, the interest of youth in becoming a homeopathic doctor has decreased, so trust in Ayurveda has increased. Every year the AYUSH department in the state provides undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in the subject of Ayurveda and Homeopathy. This year, all the seats of Ayurveda subject in the colleges and universities of the state were filled in the first counseling. Counseling was held thrice for 60 seats of Homeopathic system of medicine, but only 24 students got admission. 36 seats remained vacant. Under the Department of AYUSH, one homeopathic doctor is serving in all the district headquarters of the state. In Bilaspur and Chamba district, one additional doctor is providing service. Secretary of Ayurvedic Department, Rajiv Sharma says that this time the seats of Homeopathy have been vacant. Usually students give exams for more than one subject. They have more than one option. It is possible that even here students have moved to other institutions.

Kumarhatti Homeopathy Medical College

There is a Private Homeopathy Medical College at Kumarhatti in Solan District. In this, 60 seats are for homeopathy. Only 24 seats are filled during this academic year. The youth did not show interest to enter the vacant seats.

All 135 seats of Ayurveda filled

Admission has been done for 75 seats in Rajiv Gandhi Post Graduate Government Ayurveda College, Paprola. Apart from this, there are 60 seats each in Abhilashi Ayurvedic College, Nerchok in Mandi district and Shiva Ayurvedic College in Bilaspur. All the seats in one government and two private Ayurvedic colleges were filled in the first counseling.

No Unani medical education in Himachal

There is no institute of Unani medical education in the state. There used to be an Unani medicine dispensary in the Lower Bazar of Shimla city. Similarly, there used to be a dispensary in the city of Solan as well.
