The Center has stopped Rs 286 crore 30 lakh 62 thousand of Chhattisgarh under Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). It has 243 crores for the highest material payment. Apart from this, 42 crores of labor payment is also included. It is being told that the labor payment has been stopped for only 4 months, but the pendency of material payment is of 2021, which the Center has not released yet.

MNREGA workers have returned from strike and work has also started, but due to non-receipt of funds from the Centre, the work is being hampered. Funds are coming for labor payment and payment is also being done. The old pendency in this is being done at the state level.

There is a pendency of only 46 crores, which is only for four months, which will also be cleared soon, but the central government is not releasing funds only for material payment. In such a situation, the suppliers are not getting paid at all. One, the suppliers have suffered a direct loss of 500 crores due to MGNREGA workers going on strike and now the Center has withheld 243 crores of their share.

Funds were to be released like this

MNREGA workers are getting regular payment, there is no problem of funds in this, but at present, funds have not come from the center for material payment. The amount will be released to all the districts as soon as the funds come.
