According to reports, a suspected explosion took place at the Intelligence Wing office of Punjab Police in Mohali late on Monday night. Intelligence wing sources say that the blast was a rocket-propelled grenade, which happened around 9.30 pm. A building has been targeted in the blast. Its impact is most felt on the third floor of the building.
After the blast, a heavy police deployment can be seen on the road opposite the government establishment in the visuals. Security has been strengthened by cordoning off the entire area.
CM spoke to DGP, sought information
According to the press release issued by Mohali Police, a minor explosion took place at around 7:45 pm at Punjab Police Intelligence Head Quarter in SAS Nagar Sector 77. No damage reported. Senior officials are on the spot and investigation is on. Forensic teams have been called.”
It is being said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke to the DGP and sought full details of the matter. It is being told that he is constantly in touch with the police officers. Sources have ruled out the possibility of a terror attack. They say that the explosive kept in the building exploded.
