The Chief Minister’s February 13 letter was reportedly a reply to a scathing letter by Governor Banwarilal Purohit in which he questioned the decisions taken by the Aam Aadmi Party government
New Delhi :
The Governor and the Chief Minister have come face to face in Punjab. The letter war has started between them on calling the assembly session. The state government has decided to call the assembly session on March 3. The Governor has objected to the language of the Chief Minister’s letters. He said that the language of the Chief Minister’s letter and tweet is not only unconstitutional but also highly derogatory. He said that he would take a decision after taking legal advice.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s February 13 letter was reportedly a reply to a scathing letter by Governor Banwarilal Purohit in which he questioned the decisions taken by the Aam Aadmi Party government. He had asked Bhagwant Mann to reply in 14 days.
Bhagwant Mann, in his reply, told the governor that he was “answerable only to the three crore people of Punjab and not to any governor appointed by the central government.” He also said that the governor raised the subjects of the state.
Bhagwant Mann wrote, “The people of Punjab want to ask that, in the absence of any specific qualification in the Indian Constitution, on what basis are the governors selected by the central government in different states? Please increase the knowledge of Punjabis by telling this.”
The Governor retorted, saying, “The language of the Chief Minister’s letter and tweet is not only unconstitutional, but also grossly derogatory.”
