Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh on Monday told the Supreme Court that he is present in the country and he is not absconding, after the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest and directed him to join the investigation. After this, Parambir Singh, who has been absconding for about 231 days, has reached near Mumbai on Thursday. Talking to reporters here, Parambir Singh said that he has full faith in the judiciary.

Six cases of corruption and extortion were registered against Parambir Singh after he wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging corruption and misconduct against the then Home Minister and senior NCP leader Anil Deshmukh. Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner on March 17 and made general commander of the Maharashtra State Home Guard after allegations were leveled against Deshmukh. But since then Parambir Singh was absconding.
