Families sitting on dharna in Mahendragarh: Case of assault in land dispute in Sureti Pilania; Police is not arresting

The members of a family of village Sureti Pilaniya of Mahendragarh, Haryana have sat on a hunger strike and indefinite dharna at the Mini Secretariat demanding the arrest of the accused. Some people had attacked in a land dispute.

According to the information received, Jugbir of Sureti Pilania alleges that some time ago he had bought land near his fields. He had sown cotton on 6 acres and millet in 3 acres. On June 20, 2021, Dharmdev, a resident of village Sureti Jakhar, reached the field with 4 tractors and was accompanied by about 60 to 70 youths. They also had illegal weapons, the accused attacked the people working in the fields. In which both his brothers suffered serious injuries.

The accused also set a hut built in his field and a pickup Dala on fire. After that the police did not register a case. They staged a 6-hour dharna in front of Narnaul DC’s residence. After that a case was registered against many unknown people including Dharam Dev, Ajay, Jagjit, Brijendra, Yogesh and Pradeep.

Jugbir, who was on fast, told that the police have not yet arrested all the accused. Police is not taking action due to political pressure. The victim’s family has been making rounds of the authorities for a long time demanding action. Now his family members Neki Ram, Hanuman, Narendra, Ramesh, Vijaypal Ashish Yashwanti Neelam Sunil and Nathiya have sat on an indefinite dharna.

Jugbir says that the police is not taking action due to political pressure. He along with his family staged a dharna from March 15 to 22. Then the police arrested one or two accused. At that time, Kanina’s DSP Rajiv reached the spot and assured them that all the accused would be arrested at the earliest. They ended the dharna on the assurance of the DSP, but till now all the accused have not been arrested.
