In Dabwali village of Sirsa, the farmers who climbed the water tank to demand land acquisition compensation, spent the night upstairs. Farmers Rakesh Fogadia, Satnam Singh, Surjit Singh climbed the water tank on Thursday in Dabwali village protesting against the Amritsar Bharat Mala project from Jamnagar in Gujarat. It has been more than 24 hours since the farmers climbed the tank. But the administration did not hold any talks with the farmers. Farmer Rakesh Fogadia says that under Bharat Mala project, compensation for land acquisition by NHAI should be demanded at four times the market rate. Farmers say that there is no uniform compensation in the acquisition of 700 acres of land in nine villages. A politician’s land in Chautala village has been acquired for Rs 80 lakh per acre. Whereas NHAI has given compensation of 10 lakhs to some village and 27 lakhs to some. NHAI took possession of the land of three villages and destroyed the standing crops. The road work will not be allowed to be completed until the compensation is received.

The land of nine villages is acquired

In the Bharat Mala Project, 700 acres of land in nine villages of Dabwali is being acquired by the National Highways Authority of India. NHAI has given compensation twice the collector rate, farmers are demanding four times more. Due to this, three farmers climbed the water tank of Dabwali village. Farmers say that the compensation for sandy and canal land should be equal and of market rate. NHI is destroying the land of nearby villages along with the acquired land. Along with the acquired land, there should be proper arrangement for the rest of the land, including the demand for adequate arrangement for water in the skin. Compensation for house and tube well coming in the acquired land should also be given four times.
