There is a shortage of manure in Bharatpur for several days. After monsoon, now farmers are not getting manure for sowing. Farmers have to go astray. Manure is being sold in black in many places. Some farmers are traveling till Uttar Pradesh for fertilizer. Still they are not getting manure. They are being returned empty handed citing being from another state.
At present 1000 rakes of manure is required in Bharatpur, but only 100 rakes have arrived. In such a situation, there is a fight over fertilizer. On Tuesday, someone informed the farmers about the arrival of fertilizer in the mustard market. Crowds started gathering in the Kisan Mandi from 4 o’clock in the morning. There was a competition to get fertilizer first. Due to the crowd, there was an atmosphere of stampede. Many women even fell to the ground. Meanwhile, there was a scuffle between two farmers in the crowd for taking the fertilizer first and after that both of them started slapping each other.
Farmer leader Nem Singh Faujdar said that it is time for sowing. So there is no fertilizer available. This is a formidable problem. In protest against the non-availability of fertilizers, the farmers under the leadership of Faujdar even put a lock on the purchase and sale committee.
