Fire in Raigad-Bilaspur MEMU local train: People panicked after seeing smoke rising, the train was diverted by changing the engine

A fire broke out in Raigarh-Bilaspur MEMU local train in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Wednesday. MEMU train left Raigarh and reached Kharsia at around 9 am today. As soon as the train stopped here, some people saw smoke rising above the engine. There was also a spark rising there. Seeing this, there was a stir in the station. At the same time, there was panic among the railway passengers.

The incident was reported to GRP and RPF. They immediately reached the spot and the fire was brought under control in half an hour. After this, the train had to stop at Kharsia station for about an hour, Railway’s ARM MM Lal told that the fire was caused by a fault in the engine. The engine of the train was changed as soon as the fire broke out in Kharsia.

A month ago, two coaches of the Korba to Itwari Shivnath Express derailed at Dongargarh railway station in Rajnandgaon district. However, there was no casualty in this. The accident happened around 3.45 am when everyone was sleeping.

A week ago 17 coaches derailed

Even a week ago, 17 coaches of a goods train going from Bilaspur to Champa derailed at Janjgir-Champa. Due to which the goods train reached Champa Junction with incomplete coaches. The joint (coupling) between the two bogies got separated due to breakage of 17 bogies.
