A fire broke out at Max Life Insurance Company in the first floor of Krishna Plaza, Matkuria Road, at 9 am on Tuesday. Smoke from the fire that broke out in the company’s office spread, leaving the apartment dwellers trapped in their flats. All the floors were suffocating due to the plume of smoke. The ground floor of the building where the fire broke out has commercial establishments, while the top four floors have residential flats.
After receiving the information about the fire, the fire department, bank police and local people showed courage and rescued 35 people trapped in the flat. Those who were rescued included 3-year-old girls including 85-year-old elderly and pregnant women. Havildar Sakaldev Yadav of the fire department was injured in the incident.
People saved lives with the help of firefighters and police, one fire brigade personnel injured
Reliance Foot Print and another shop are closed in the ground floor of Krishna Plaza. The fire at Max Life Insurance also engulfed the family shop. The family shop has suffered a lot due to the smoke. Prakash Chaudhary said that the damage is being assessed. At the same time, a statement issued by Max Life said that none of the Max Life employees were present in the office at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Victim Pulkesh said: Seeing the smoke outside, he was locked in the room, remained in panic till he was saved.
Pulkesh, who survived the incident, said – When the daughter opened the door, smoke was spread outside. Wife Mala Rai and daughter Arpit were in the house. Come in the form of a saving angel. He was saved with the help of a safety belt. They are thankful to all.
