Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow. Ekana International Academy is going to be started in the capital to prepare new seedlings of cricket players. It will be inaugurated on June 2 at the K Ekana International Stadium and will be headed by Venkatesh Prasad, the former fast bowler of the Indian cricket team.

Many former Ranji players believe that this will give an opportunity to the players of Uttar Pradesh as well as the country and abroad to move forward. Former cricketers Wasim Jaffer, Praveen Amre and Jacob Martin may also be given responsibilities to support Venkatesh Prasad at the Ekana International Academy.

Apart from this, there will also be a team of coaches, physios and medical experts. Yoga instructors, psychologists and dieticians will also render their services at the academy. Venkatesh Prasad has taken a total of 948 wickets in his cricket career. He played his last international match in October 2001. Accommodation and accommodation along with training Uday Sinha, Managing Director, Ikana Sports City, says that Venkatesh Prasad has had a great experience as a cricketer and coach and we are hopeful that the trainees visiting Ikana Academy will be able to make the most of his experience.

Efforts are also being made to connect best former players from the country and abroad for multi-faceted training in the academy. He said that apart from training in Ikana, high level arrangements would be made for accommodation and food for the trainees. Hostel for 250 players and 40 flats for trainees are prepared in the stadium premises itself.
