Baby Rani Maurya, who was the Governor of Uttarakhand, had resigned from the post of Governor on September 8 last year. The BJP had already handed over the responsibility of National Vice President in the organization to Baby Rani. On behalf of the party, he was being asked to give responsibility for campaigning as a Dalit face. After this there were speculations that she might contest the assembly elections from Agra. This speculation was stamped by the party on Saturday. He has been given ticket in place of MLA Hemlata Diwakar from Agra Rural seat. Earlier, Baby Rani Maurya had contested the assembly elections on a BJP ticket. In the year 2007, Baby Rani Maurya had contested from Etmadpur assembly seat, but she had to face defeat.

Agra’s first woman mayor was made in 1995
Baby Rani Maurya has been in active politics even before becoming the governor. She had joined BJP in 1995. In the same year, he was made the Mayor’s candidate from the BJP. By winning the election, she became the first woman mayor of Agra. Apart from this, she has also been treasurer of National Scheduled Front in 1997 in BJP. She was also a member of National Commission for Women from 2002 to 2005. In 2018, he was made a member of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Hemlata Diwakar was opposed
BJP MLA Hemlata Diwakar was opposed in Agra Rural seat. People had put up posters everywhere about his disappearance and not getting work done. Due to this protest, his ticket was cut. There was also talk of getting ticket for former Mayor Anjula Singh Mahour on this seat. However, the party expressed confidence in the baby queen Maurya.

The maternal uncle of Baby Rani Maurya, who was the Governor of Uttarakhand, is in Belanganj, Agra, while her in-laws are on Cariappa Road in Baluganj. Her husband Pradeep Kumar has retired as Director and Senior Manager in Punjab National Bank. Baby Rani has two children.
