The Gehlot government has made a separate scheme for the welfare of transgenders in the state. The state government will give money to transgenders from education to doing their own business. Entire education for transgender children will be done at government expense. ID cards will be issued to transgenders across the state. The Gehlot government has implemented it by issuing the rules of the scheme in the name of Transgenders Utthan Kosh. CM had announced this scheme in this year’s budget.
Social Justice and Empowerment Department has been made its nodal department. The scheme is being implemented in several phases. The first phase is for transgender children. The benefit of the scheme will be available only to those whose annual income is less than Rs 8 lakh. Transgender children will get Rs 225 in Pre Matric Scholarship and Rs 1000 for Post Matric Scholarship every month.
The government will bear the entire cost of higher education.
The government will bear the entire cost of higher education of transgender children. The government will pay the full fees for technical and professional courses. Post Matric Scholarship will also be available simultaneously.
The government will also give living expenses to the scholarship takers.
If the transgender children taking scholarship study outside the home, then the government will also give the money for the rent of their house. For this, a provision has been made to give up to Rs.72 thousand.
25 percent subsidy on taking loan for doing business
Skill development training will be provided to transgenders free of cost. The government will pay the full fee for skill development. Two types of skill development courses can be done on government expenditure paper. For transgenders to start their own business, the government will give a subsidy of 25 percent of its cost. A cap of up to Rs 50,000 has been kept in the subsidy, it can also be increased.
2.5 lakh assistance for surgery
The government will also help transgenders to undergo gender change surgery. The government will bear the cost of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for the surgery. For this they will be linked to the Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Yojana.
Government will celebrate Transgenders Day on November 20
On November 20, the government will celebrate Transgenders Day across the state. Kinnar Mahotsav and Kinnar Art and Culture Festival will be organized from state level to district level. The government will give Rs 10 lakh for state level program and Rs 1 lakh for district level programme.
Community Halls and Old Age Homes
The government will allot two bighas of land at Jamdoli, Jaipur for community building and old age home for transgenders. Apart from community building in two bighas, old age home will be built for transgenders. All facilities will be developed for them in this campus. A single window will also start from here, from where the problems of transgenders will be resolved.
Treasury opened for transgenders to fulfill budget announcement
The Protection of Transgender Rights Act 2019 remains in place. After the orders of the Supreme Court, the central government changed this law. After this, work is going on on different schemes to implement the rights of transgenders across the country. The Gehlot government had announced in this year’s budget to run a scheme related to their welfare by creating a transgenders upliftment fund. To fulfill the budget announcement, the Gehlot government has made provisions related to the welfare of transgenders.
