The woman who feeds the goat in Sehore will now run the government of the village. Sulochana Barkhne was elected unopposed as sarpanch from Sasli gram panchayat of Budhni, the assembly constituency of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Women remained unopposed on all the 10 panch posts. Sasli got the status of Gram Panchayat for the first time this year. The seat was reserved for SC women. Sasli Gram Panchayat consists of Narayanpura and Jhakalay villages. The villagers of both the villages sat together and discussed and elected the entire panchayat unopposed.
Unopposed Sarpanch Sulochana Barkhne says that she will work for the poor and the helpless. Will work hard for the people of the village to get housing, toilets and MNREGA work. She will also make continuous efforts for the development of the village.
Goats graze with husband
Sulochana Barkhane says that grazing goats is the ancestral work of her family. He has 40 goats. Earlier his father-in-law used to graze goats. He passed away 2 years ago. Since then, she, along with her husband Rambharose Barakhne, grazes goats in the forest near the village.
Sasli is the first smoke free village of the state
Sasli village is the only village in the entire state which is completely smoke free. Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also gave a special award for making the village smoke free. Senior BJP leader Raghunath Singh Bhati is also a resident of this village. At the same time, this panchayat comes under the CM’s assembly constituency Budhni. Due to all these efforts, the Panchayat has got the title of Samras Panchayat.
BJP leader Bhati says that more than 40 SC-ST families living in the village do goat rearing. The people here are mostly from the working class. They do not have agricultural land. They get the benefits of government schemes.
