The rest house of PWD in Durg district has been occupied by officers and employees for many years. Three years ago, this government rest house, built at a cost of about two and a half crores, has not been handed over by the PWD to the district administration. Out of 7 luxury rooms here, 5 rooms are with PWD Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu. Two rooms are occupied by EE Ashok Srivas of PWD.

Durg district is declared as VVIP district. Ministers, MLAs and big officials are visiting here every day. Due to the old circuit house and the lack of rooms there, a 7-room rest house was built right next to the PWD Executive Engineer office under the Congress rule. It was built in VVIP method, due to which about two and a half crore rupees were spent in its cost.

After the construction of the rest house, the PWD took the handover of the building from the contractor, but it was not handed over to the district administration. Due to this, the booking protocol officers do not see here. Or say that for three years not a single booking was done here officially. As soon as the building was built, the EE of PWD kept two rooms here with him. One of these rooms is locked by Superintendent of PWD Diwakar Sharma and one by his driver. 5 rooms are with Durg Rural MLA and PWD Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu. When the PWD minister was called to inquire about this, his phone did not ring.

PWD minister made his office
One room in the rest house has been locked for the last three years. The PWD minister’s office is in that room. Along with this, the minister’s security personnel and driver live in the remaining 4 rooms.
PWD is bearing all the expenses
About Rs 2-3 lakh is spent every month for the maintenance and food of the rest house. All these expenses are borne by the officials of PWD department. They have no idea about where this money comes from. Gagan Jain, the sub-engineer in charge of the rest house, said that EE Ashok Srivas will give information about all this. But according to Executive Engineer Ashok Shrivas, the responsibility of the rest house is handled by the Protocol Officer i.e. SDM. While his engineer is saying that the rest house has not been handed over by the PWD under the protocol.
