The Gujarat Police has detained a person from Ballia’s Maniyar area in connection with the threat of serial bomb blasts in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Republic Day.

Police sources said on Saturday that a three-member team of Gujarat Police has detained a person named Om Prakash Paswan from Devrar village under Maniyar police station area on Friday night and took him with them.

According to sources, the police commissioner’s office of Ahmedabad had received a threatening letter on January 25 last. In this letter, there were threats of bomb blasts at various places including railway station and bus stand in Ahmedabad.

He said that the Gujarat Police found in the investigation that four people were involved in sending the letter, out of which the main accused is a resident of Ballia. On this basis, the Gujarat Police reached the Maniyar police station on Friday and along with the local police team went to Devrar in the Maniyar police station area and caught Omprakash Paswan from his house.

According to sources, Omprakash used to work in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat. He had come to the village only three days before from Ahmedabad. Police say he has no criminal record here.
