Haryana Ranji team coach Ashwini Kumar is shocked by Harshal Patel’s stellar performance in the IPL, not getting a place in the T20 World Cup. He said that I am not besieging the selectors, but I am surprised that Patel was not given a chance. Patel is a very good player of limited overs. After a stellar performance in the domestic season, he has proved himself by performing brilliantly in the IPL as well.

Coach Ashwini while talking to the daily said, ‘He should have got a chance from Team India during the Sri Lanka tour itself. It was believed that he would be given a place in the T20 World Cup, but it did not happen. His performance in domestic tournaments has been consistently great. He is the Captain of Haryana. Patel has proved himself by performing brilliantly in the IPL as well. I wonder why Patel is not getting a chance till now. However, Patel still has plenty of opportunities. I hope he will be given a place in Team India. There is a World Cup in 2022 and also in 2023. Patel still has his chances.

Patel equals Dwayne Bravo’s record
Patel has taken 32 wickets while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL-14th season. He has equaled the record of bowler Dwayne Bravo for taking most wickets in a season in IPL. Bravo took 32 wickets in 2013. With Patel taking 32 wickets in this season, he has also become the highest wicket-taker for India in the IPL.

Patel is playing from Haryana since 2009-2010
Ashnini Kumar told that Harshal Patel is originally from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. He is playing for Haryana in domestic tournament since 2009-10. His parents live abroad. Patel was brought to Haryana by Anirudh Chaudhary, who was then the President of the Haryana Cricket Association. He had seen Harshal bowling in Under-19. We were looking for a medium pacer, then Patel was called for a trial. All the coaches were impressed by this. Since then he plays from Haryana and practices while staying in Haryana.

Slow bouncer is the specialty
Ashwini Kumar told that the slow bouncer is the specialty of Patel. In such a situation, the batsmen do not understand their ball. When he came to Haryana, he used to bat along with bowling. He gradually focused a lot on batting as well. He also scores runs for the team when needed.
