There is good news for the students of Himachal who want to study in Master of Technology. The University Institute of Technology (UIT) of Himachal Pradesh University is starting two M.TECH courses from the session 2022-23. Students who have passed First Division in B.Tech will be eligible for admission in M.TECH IT and M.TECH CS courses. The UIT Institute will release its schedule soon.
UIT Director Prof. PL Sharma said that after the start of these courses, the students of the state will not have to go to foreign states or private universities to do M.Tech. They will be able to complete their studies from HPU only. He said that after this the institute is also preparing to start Ph.D. Due to which engineering students will not have to go to the outside state by paying hefty fees.
Then students will also be able to do Ph.D from Himachal Pradesh University only. A draft has been prepared for this, which has been sent to the VC of HPU for approval. Soon it will be approved in the executive counseling. HPU will be the first institute in Himachal to have Ph.D in Engineering.
Those who pass the gate will get priority
Those who qualify the national level GATE exam will get priority in M.Tech admission. M.Tech courses are being started within the coming 10 days. Admission will be given on 18-18 seats of both these courses. UIT is already offering admission to 5 B.Tech courses. For this, entrance tests are being conducted in July. For this, the last date to apply online has been fixed till June 30.
