According to media reports, the Taliban has implemented a gender segregation plan in Afghanistan’s western Herat province. Kham Press has quoted sources as saying that after the rule came into force, men are not allowed to sit in restaurants with family members and eat food. According to the Afghan News Agency, in the rule implemented by the Ministry of Virtue and Prevention, it has been said that even if there are husband and wife, they cannot sit together in the restaurant.

Riyaz Ullah Sirat, official of the Ministry of Virtue and Prevention, said the ministry had previously issued an order for gender segregation in Herat’s parks. Under this, men and women were authorized to go to the park on different days. He said, “We told women to go to the park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the day the parks were opened for men so that they can roam there and exercise in their free time.”
Let us tell you that in the last March also, the Taliban had issued a similar order. In the said order, there was a ban on the entry of men and women to the amusement park on the same day.
