Hyderabad: Man murdered for inter-caste marriage, 4 accused arrested

A businessman named Neeraj P, who went against the wishes of his family last year, married a woman belonging to another caste and was stabbed to death allegedly by five men on Friday night at Begum Bazaar, police said.

Four people were arrested here on Saturday in connection with the murder of a man who had a love marriage with a woman of another caste. police gave this information. A businessman named Neeraj P, who went against the wishes of his family last year, married a woman belonging to another caste and was stabbed to death allegedly by five men on Friday night at Begum Bazaar, police said. Neeraj’s wife alleged that her brother and other family members were responsible for the murder. However, the family members of the woman denied the allegations and claimed that Neeraj was murdered by some other people.

The couple has a two-month-old child. Police had said that the incident took place when the man, who was traveling in a two-wheeler with his father, was attacked with knives by five assailants and died on his way to the hospital. A case of murder has been registered at Shahinayathganj police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) D Joel Davis said on Saturday that the man was attacked by five men and four of them have been apprehended and one is absconding.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “Prima facie, we have come to know that two of them are close relatives. All four are being interrogated. Neeraj’s wife told TV channels on Saturday that their family members were responsible for the murder and that all five killers should be hanged. Earlier, I and my husband were threatened with dire consequences for our love marriage. I want justice.”

Meanwhile, condemning the incident, a large number of people took out a procession in the area and raised slogans. He demanded that the killers be hanged. Most of the shops in Begum Bazar remained closed in protest against the murder. In a related development, the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC) on Saturday sought a report from the Hyderabad Police Commissioner on the incident by June 30. According to an official release, the commission took suo motu cognizance of media reports about the murder incident.
