New Delhi, Online Desk. Indian opener batsman Rohit Sharma has been rested for the two-match Test series against New Zealand starting on November 25. At present, there are three batsmen in the Test team who can open for India and these batsmen include Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. Now, who among these three should open in the Kanpur Test against New Zealand, Gautam Gambhir, the former opener batsman of Team India, advised.

Talking on the Star Sports show, Gautam Gambhir said that I will choose Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul for India’s opening against New Zealand because both of them also opened in England. And at number four, I would love to see Shubman Gill bat. That’s the batting line-up I want to see and Ajinkya Rahane is lucky to be in this Test team because he is leading the team. However, he has got a big opportunity once again and now I want to see how he uses this opportunity.

According to Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane does not get a place in the Indian Test team from anywhere. He has been included in the team only because he can captain the Test team in the absence of Virat Kohli. Ajinkya Rahane will captain the heavy Test team against New Zealand in the Kanpur Test match, but Virat Kohli will return in the second Test and then he will take over the charge. Rahane’s performance is not getting much better in Test cricket these days. This year Rahane has scored 372 runs in 19 innings of Test matches at an average of 19.58. If he is not able to do very well in the Test series against New Zealand, then his Test career may be eclipsed.
