Basic ED is shared with the states. Whereas SAED, RIC and AIDC are not shared.”

The minister said, “The reduction in excise duty of ₹8/litre on petrol and ₹6/litre on diesel, which is effective from today, has been done completely in Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC). Not only this, petrol in November 2021 Final excise duty reduction of ₹5/litre in diesel and ₹10/litre in diesel was also done completely in RIC. The original ED which is shared with the states has not been touched. Hence, these two duties The entire burden of cutting decisions is being borne by the Centre.”
