New Delhi, ANI. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed all states and union territories to focus on further strengthening their capacity to deal with cases of crime against women. The Ministry has also sought a status note regarding the implementation of the instructions issued earlier on the ground level regarding the safety of women. The Ministry has requested the States that suitable guidelines may be issued for early initiation of action in cases related to women and their continuous monitoring.

The Ministry, through a recent circular to all Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries, Director Generals of Police of all States and Union Territories, conveyed its agenda emphasizing the need to provide better protection to women across the country. Issuing the circular last week, the home ministry also referred to its eight advisories issued to all states and union territories between May 10, 2013 and June 30, 2021, towards standard operating procedures (SOPs) on crimes against women. was asked to get his attention.

The ministry has also recalled several of its recommendations to strengthen the mechanism to deal with crimes against women, citing the 233rd report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
