IND vs NZ Test Series: Shreyas Iyer, who made his Test debut in the ongoing match against New Zealand, impressed everyone with his brilliant batting on the first day. Iyer, who came out to bat at number-5, took his team out of trouble by playing an unbeaten innings of 75 runs under pressure conditions. The right-handed batsman, who has fixed his place in Team India in ODI and T20 formats, finally got a chance to show his ability in the biggest format of cricket. Taking full advantage of this opportunity, the Mumbai batsman made the fans happy.

Meanwhile, a picture of Shreyas Iyer is making a lot of headlines on social media. Actually, his father Santosh has put a picture of the Border Gavaskar Trophy won in Australia on WhatsApp DP, in which his son is holding this trophy.

Shreyas Iyer’s father has always wanted to see his son succeed as a Test player. Iyer made his Test debut with an unbeaten half-century as India pulled out of a tough time on the first day of the first match against New Zealand at Green Park in Kanpur.

Shreyas Iyer’s father said in a conversation with PTI, “Yes, this DP is of Border Gavaskar Trophy and it is closest to my heart. In this series held in 2017, Shreyas Iyer was included in the team as a reserve player after Virat Kohli’s injury in the Dharamsala Test. Therefore, after winning the match at that time, the team handed over the trophy to Shreyas. So that moment was very iconic for me.”

Shreyas Iyer’s father further said that he always wanted his son to get a chance to play Test cricket for India and perform well. For me this format of cricket matters the most.

Talking about the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand, Team India, batting first, has made 258/4 till the end of the day. Shreyas Iyer, making his Test debut for India, scored his maiden Test century while batting brilliantly. Iyer is still unbeaten on 75. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja played him well and together they made an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs.
