Team India’s experienced batsman and Ajinkya Rahane, who is captaining the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur, is not taking the name of the bad form to stop. Rahane once again disappointed the fans in the first innings on Thursday and was dismissed by New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson for just 35 runs. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, who was commentating in the India-New Zealand match, was not happy with the way Rahane was dismissed.
The former veteran batsman said on Star Sports that the short he tried to hit on the Kanpur pitch was not right. He should have played straight with the bat instead of playing the cross in this situation. Laxman further said that such shorts go on pitches like Australia or South Africa, but playing with the bat diagonally in India can cause problems.
Ajinkya Rahane disappointed again
VVS Laxman further said that as soon as Rahane came to the crease, Kyle Jameson started taking Tests with the short ball and eventually he got success. Team India’s captain was clean bowled on the score of 35.
Apart from Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara also could not convert his start into a big innings on the first day and was dismissed after scoring 26 runs. Shreyas Iyer, making his debut in international Test cricket, displayed excellent batting and scored the first half-century of his Test career. Iyer is stuck on 75 runs at the end of the first day’s play. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja, who came out to bat at number-6, also played his full support. The all-rounder is unbeaten on 50 runs and a partnership of 113 runs has been made between the two.
