India’s Test captain Virat Kohli has started preparations for the second Test against New Zealand. Kohli, who recently decided to take a break after the T20 World Cup in UAE, will rejoin the team after the ongoing first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur. Some pictures are going viral on social media, in which Virat Kohli is seen practicing fiercely on the field with former India assistant coach and RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar.
Virat Kohli has been struggling with the bat in Test cricket for quite some time now. King Kohli, known as the run machine of Team India, scored his last international Test century two years ago against Bangladesh in Kolkata.
When will the drought of Kohli’s century break?
The 33-year-old star player has been going through a rough patch since his last century against Bangladesh in November 2019. Since the start of 2020, Kohli has played 20 Tests for India but he has failed to make a big impact with the bat both at home and away.
Virat Kohli could only manage 563 runs in 21 innings at an average of 26.80. The Indian captain crossed the 50-run mark on five occasions with the highest score of 74. In the four Test matches played in India, Virat scored only 172 runs at an average of 29 during this period.
Seeing Virat Kohli practicing hard in Sanjay Bangar’s training, his fans are hoping that he will break the drought of his centuries in India vs New Zealand to be held in Mumbai.
India vs New Zealand, 1st Test
The first test match between India and New Zealand is underway in Kanpur. Team India captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bat. However, barring Shubman Gill, all the batsmen have disappointed so far. The right-handed batsman from Punjab, returning to the Test team after injury, played a crucial innings of 52 runs. At the same time, Ajinkya Rahane once again flopped before going through poor form for a long time and got out after scoring 35 runs.
