New Delhi, ANI. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a message on the occasion of Passport Seva Diwas on Friday. He said that the central government is going to make international travel more easy. Jaishankar informed that India is soon going to introduce e-passport to enable protection against identity theft and data security. He said that the Ministry of External Affairs along with the Central Passport Organization is marking this occasion and reiterating our commitment to provide passport and passport related services to the citizens of India in a timely, reliable, accessible, transparent and efficient manner.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said-

  • It gives me immense pleasure to associate with all our passport issuing authorities in India and abroad on the occasion of Passport Seva Diwas 2022.
  • The External Affairs Minister mentioned that passport services were provided even during the testing times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Jaishankar pointed out, “The ministry took this occasion two and a half years of the pandemic, and dealt swiftly with an impressive monthly average of 9.0 lakh, with 4.50 lakh additional applications given in the last one month, and the country thus setting a record.” did.’

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “As we celebrate Passport Seva Divas on June 24 this year, we will continue our commitment to provide the next level of civilian experience.” Jaishankar said that the government has been very successful in the past in simplifying the passport rules and procedures for the citizens. He said, “To further facilitate the passport distribution ecosystem, the Ministry is continuously working with the State/UT Police to reduce the time taken for police verification. mPassport Police App is now used in 22 States/UTs covering 8275 Police Stations.’

He also informed that the Passport Seva system has also been integrated with the DigiKar system to facilitate paperless documentation process. S Jaishankar said, “The Ministry in collaboration with the Department of Posts has operationalized 428 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) to reach our citizens at their doorsteps.”
